Fraunhofer IESE can look back on its experience in successfully designing Digital Ecosystems in a wide variety of industries. In addition, IESE has been working successfully with the public sector for many years, from the municipal to the federal level. By combining this expertise with methodological excellence in software engineering, Fraunhofer IESE is able to develop customized approaches that meet the specific needs of the DIHK's work context.
Fraunhofer IESE has enabled the DIHK and its chambers, as well as IT service providers, to systematically explore the topic of a Digital Ecosystem and its significance for commercial registers – starting with the big vision and moving on to questions of the operational implementation of such an ecosystem in the DIHK.
Specifically, Fraunhofer IESE has developed a workshop format based on the proven “Tangible Ecosystem Design” method and uses approaches from creativity research to generate specific ideas for register reform. Based on these methodological preparations, Fraunhofer IESE organized and moderated a face-to-face workshop with representatives of all key interest groups. The core of a Digital Ecosystem was jointly developed, taking into account the legal, technical, and business aspects of modernizing commercial registers in the context of the DIHK. The approach was applied iteratively: Following an initial workshop, Fraunhofer IESE refined and completed the concepts developed in the workshop to enable further coordination with the project participants and follow-up workshops.
