Jörg Dörr Joins the Institute Management Team at Fraunhofer IESE
On November 1, 2025, Jörg Dörr joined the institute management team at the Fraunhofer Institute for Experimental Software Engineering IESE. Together with the current director Peter Liggesmeyer, he will co-lead the institute, which specializes in efficient software development. They will share responsibilities: Jörg Dörr will serve as scientific director while Peter Liggesmeyer will act as managing director.
In addition to his new role on the institute management team, Dörr holds the Chair of Digital Farming at the University of Kaiserslautern-Landau in Rhineland-Palatinate, a position he has held since 2021. He has worked at Fraunhofer IESE since 2002 and has held various management positions over the years. From 2005 to 2010, he headed the Requirements and Usability Engineering department, and from 2010 to 2019, the Information Systems division. He also served as Co-Head Business Development from 2018 to 2020, before joining the institute’s expanded management team in 2020. Dörr has extensive expertise in the field of efficient software and systems engineering, requirements engineering and data usage control. His work spans multiple sectors, with a particular focus on agriculture.
Quality and efficiency as priorities
In his new role as the institute's scientific director, Dörr will concentrate on enhancing efficiency. The institute aims to sharpen its focus here and leverage its applied research expertise in efficient software and systems engineering to boost the productivity of the German economy. “High-quality software and systems are crucial for our country's technological sovereignty. Through pioneering digital solutions – such as for digital twins and systems interoperability – Fraunhofer IESE is driving innovation in key technologies.
