This young thematic platform is to provide impulses and support, and act as the driving force for digital land management in Bavaria. Dr.-Ing. Heribert Reiter, Director Research and Development at AGCO / Fendt, has accepted the position of economic spokesperson. For the position of scientific spokesperson, the thematic platform was able to enlist the services of Prof. Dr.-Ing. Peter Liggesmeyer, Director of Fraunhofer IESE in Kaiserslautern. With their personality and their knowledge in the areas of agriculture and data management, both experts are to contribute to the success of the thematic platform. Prof. Liggesmeyer has been working on digitalization in agriculture for many years: The current lighthouse project of the Fraunhofer-Gesellschaft “Cognitive Agriculture“ deals with the conception and realization of an integrated platform for information-based (cognitive) agriculture.

In order to set the right accents and initiate target-oriented measures, the Strategy Council of the thematic platform met for the first time in September 2019. As initial measures, the participants intend to establish a thematic radar on digitalization in agriculture and develop formats for cross-border knowledge transfer. One of the focal points is to be in the area of data management.
