Digitalization of manufacturing processes and data spaces

The digitalization of manufacturing processes using digital twins plays a central role in Industry 4.0 and the digital transformation of the manufacturing industry!

Industrial data spaces, which enable companies to share sensitive data securely and in a controlled manner, are indispensable in this context. These data spaces not only define the rules for data exchange, but also the necessary infrastructure to ensure simple and efficient use of this data. The administration shell guarantees interoperable exchange across company boundaries.

From April 20 to 24, 2026, Fraunhofer IESE will present the “AAS Dataspace Professional” at the Fraunhofer-Gesellschaft joint booth: a solution that enables small and medium-sized enterprises, as well as large companies, to easily integrate data rooms into their manufacturing processes. 

We will show you:

  • The precise calculation of the CO2 footprint of products along the supply chain.
  • Secure sharing of manufacturing documents.
  • The creation of product passports.
  • Efficient detection of disruptions in the value chain.

With “AAS Dataspace for Everybody”, we are already realizing a data space that can be used by everyone: Our Infrastructure-as-a-Service enables the digitization of your own manufacturing processes and easy access to data rooms.

Eclipse BaSyx, as open source middleware, enables the simple implementation and provision of administration shells, e.g., via the “AAS Dataspace for Everybody,” and already supports numerous companies in their digital transformation.

We will also be at the Industry 4.0 Platform booth in hall 13, booth C24, focusing on the topic of “Digital Material Data Spaces.” There, we will demonstrate how data can be shared in a machine-readable format within data spaces.
 
Aditionally, we will also be at the Smart Factory booth in hall 13, booth C35, together with Xitaso and NetApp.
