About 150 participants gathered in Frankfurt am Main for the AAS Solutions Summit 2026. They learned about the latest developments in the AAS ecosystem, shared experiences, and discussed practical approaches to implementing AAS solutions. In total, software providers, service companies, component manufacturers, and users presented their approaches in eleven solution pitches.

The focus of the outstanding presentation by Frank Schnicke and Alwin Hoffmann was Industrial BaSyx, a joint solution developed by Fraunhofer IESE, XITASO, and NetApp. The solution is based on Eclipse BaSyx and provides companies with a fully integrated environment for the scalable and future-proof implementation of Asset Administration Shells and digital twins.

A key feature of Industrial BaSyx is its consistent use of open-source technologies. This allows users to avoid vendor lock-in and remain flexible. Unlike purely cloud- or SaaS-based offerings, the solution can be deployed wherever companies need it—for example, in their own data centers, in the cloud, or in hybrid environments. Built on a high-performance data platform from NetApp, it offers future-proof performance and comprehensive data services for data protection, governance, mobility, and AI integration.

In addition, Industrial BaSyx addresses key requirements of industrial digitalization, such as scalability and auditability. The solution helps companies successfully implement AAS-based use cases and lays the groundwork for future requirements, such as those related to the Digital Product Passport.

A key takeaway from the summit emerged throughout many discussions and presentations: Demand for AAS solutions is on the rise. At the same time, the necessary technologies and platforms are already available. The solutions presented made it clear that the Asset Administration Shell has long since become established in industrial practice, and that solutions such as Industrial BaSyx can already deliver tangible added value today.
