In the project “Digital housing counseling and digitalization-related educational services for the elderly” in the county of Tirschenreuth, Fraunhofer IESE and its project partners developed a user-oriented, user-friendly platform for digital housing counseling and different tools to support the counseling process.

The overarching goal of the project “Digital Housing Counseling” was to improve the living situation and social participation of elderly adults in the county of Tirschenreuth with the help of digitalization.
In addition to a user-oriented, user-friendly platform for digital housing counseling, the project “Digital housing counseling and digitalization-related educational services for the elderly” developed various tools to support the counseling process.
In the form of a website, the digital housing counseling project provides comprehensive and user-centered services, including general information as well as an overview of a wide variety of aids, a virtual (2D and 3D) tour of a model apartment suitable for aging, as well as information on funding opportunities. The digital housing counseling service is based on the experiences of the housing counseling agency of the county of Tirschenreuth and offers elderly adults and their relatives, volunteer housing counselors, and other multipliers (neighborhood assistance, disability commissioners, senior citizen commissioners) of the county of Tirschenreuth information as well as networking opportunities around age-appropriate housing.
In addition, volunteer housing counselors can, for example, digitally record information during home visits, provide information about a variety of useful aids, and show a “virtual tour” of the model apartment. A transfer concept was tested with five housing counseling centers and recommendations for the organizational and technical operation of the platform in the future were developed.
