Call for Paper Safety meets Security 2027

We invite contributions for our next Safety meets Security symposium in 2027. The symposium addresses current challenges at the intersection of safety and security, with a particular focus on engineering, assurance, regulation, standardization, and industrial practice.

The 2027 edition will focus on the role of artificial intelligence in safety-critical applications. We are interested in how AI can be developed, evaluated, secured, and operated in a reliable and efficient manner. At the same time, we seek contributions on how AI itself can improve reliability and efficiency in safety and security engineering.

Submissions should explicitly address the combined relevance for both safety and security. Contributions that discuss only one of the two perspectives in isolation are not the primary focus of this call.

Topics of interest include, but are not limited to:

• AI in critical systems and infrastructures
• Safety and security assurance for AI-based systems
• Integrated and ai-supported safety and security engineering
• Security risks of AI and their safety implications
• AI-supported analysis, verification, validation, and testing
• Standards, regulation, AI Act, Cyber Resilience Act, and compliance
• Operational monitoring, incident response, and resilience of AI-based systems
• Industrial experience from domains such as automation, mobility, rail, energy, medical systems, and critical infrastructures

We welcome presentations from industry, academia, regulatory bodies, standardization organizations, and applied research. Practical experience reports, methodological contributions, research results, standardization perspectives, and interactive formats are equally welcome.

Typical presentation slots are planned for approximately 30 minutes of presentation plus 10 minutes for questions. Besides presentations, interactive formats, such as workshops or moderated discussion formats, are also possible. Please clearly indicate the intended format in your submission. Please note that this year’s symposium language is English.

Submissions will be reviewed and selected by the Organization Committee. Selection criteria include technical quality, relevance to the symposium theme, combined safety and security perspective, practical relevance, originality, and suitability for the audience.
