Siemens manager Gerd Höfner becomes new chairman

New chairman of the Advisory Board at Fraunhofer IESE

On 26 October 2017, Gerd Höfner will chair his first Advisory Board meeting at the Fraunhofer Institute for Experimental Software Engineering IESE in Kaiserslautern. The Siemens manager took over as chairman in March 2017, after being a member of the Advisory Board for three years.

Applied research is one of the guiding principles of Fraunhofer IESE in Kaiserslautern. This is why for institute director Prof. Peter Liggesmeyer, constructive collaboration with representatives of industrial companies is particularly valuable: “I am very happy that we managed to get Mr. Höfner as the chairman of our Advisory Board. For us as an applied research institute, close contact with industry is essential for maintaining a future-oriented service portfolio. Mr. Höfner will be able to provide us with valuable impulses as to how we can focus even more strongly on the needs of industry with our innovative applied research.”

Gerd Höfner, who holds a German Diplom degree in Computer Science, started his professional career at Siemens AG in Erlangen in 1986. Following various international leadership positions within the corporation, his current position is that of Managing Director and President of Siemens Healthcare Pvt. Ltd. (SHPL). SHPL, with its more than 2,500 employees, includes the Siemens Healthineers Sales and Service Team for South Asia, two production sites in Goa and Baroda, as well as more than 1,500 employees working worldwide in R&D for Siemens Healthineers Business Lines. In addition, Gerd Höfner is manager of the global development center of Siemens Healthineers, a global in-house center with 1,800 engineers providing product development services from India to Slovakia.
