Mobility in rural areas is often dependent on owning a vehicle. Especially in places where existing local public transport services are not available area-wide and with sufficient frequency, people who are not individually mobile, such as young people or pensioners, are severely restricted in their freedom. The work in our project “KomMaaS” focuses on the development of digital applications that can be used to reorganize and improve the transport of people in order to address the specific challenges in sparsely populated rural areas.
Fraunhofer IESE is developing the concept and the technical solution together with citizens in the partner regions.
