Real-world lab for the realization of a climate-neutral urban district

In the lighthouse project “EnStadt:Pfaff”, seven partners are developing a real-life lab on the former factory premises of the Pfaff sewing machine factory in Kaiserslautern for the implementation of a climate-neutral residential, commercial, and technology district.

The focus of Fraunhofer IESE is on the development of long-term ICT concepts, the establishment and use of a digital ecosystem for urban districts on the basis of the Smart Rural Areas Platform, and the design and implementation of applications for this ecosystem in the fields of energy, mobility, housing, and community.
