The world's leading trade show for industrial technology
BaSys 4.0 – Enabler for Industrie 4.0
Changeable manufacturing processes ensure a company’s long-term success and competitiveness. In the project BaSys 4.0, we as the consortium leader are working with project partners from industry and research to develop an open-source middleware that enables rapid realization of Industrie 4.0 control systems. This addresses changeability of production processes as a major challenge of Industrie 4.0. Changeability denotes the ability to change a production process with respect to unforeseen changes. This is significantly different from already existing variable production processes that are supported by existing automation technology.
We as Fraunhofer IESE bring modern software architecture to manufacturing and show how easy it is to integrate it with existing automation and control systems. With the help of manufacturing services, we make efficiently changeable production a reality, and illustrate how this can be adapted during operation and, if necessary, used to integrate individual products into mass production.
Our tool FERAL, an integral part of BaSyS 4.0, can simulate plant control systems before these are actually implemented. This is supported by digital twins: They map characteristics of the real plant virtually and enable risk-free “What-if“ analyses. Based on this, we are collaborating with Fraunhofer ESK in the Think Lab Lab ENARIS to develop solutions that realize self-optimizing plants.
In line with the motto of the joint Fraunhofer booth, “Sparking the Future”, we will show you at our interactive demonstrator in Hall 2 how BaSys 4.0 works as an enabler for Industrie 4.0 and how it revolutionizes the future of manufacturing companies.
Visit us at Hannover Messe, Hall 2, Booth C22, from 23 to 27 April 2018.
