Commercial Vehicle Technology Symposium at TU Kaiserslautern from 16-18 March
The University of Kaiserslautern is organizing the 1st Commercial Vehicle Technology Symposium in Rhineland-Palatinate in cooperation with the two Fraunhofer Institutes for Experimental Software Engineering IESE and Industrial Mathematics ITWM as well as the Commercial Vehicle Cluster. Under the motto “Research Meets Industry”, more than 250 commercial vehicle experts will meet from 16 to 18 March under the patronage of Minister President Kurt Beck.
NICTA and Fraunhofer IESE world-leading researchers combine forces
NICTA, Australia’s Information and Communications Technology (ICT) Research Centre of Excellence, has signed a five-year agreement with the Fraunhofer Institute for Experimental Software Engineering (IESE) to establish the Fraunhofer Project Group on Transport and Logistics at NICTA’s Sydney laboratory.

Data Protection Needs Modernizing – Presentation of Data Protection Award 2009
Yesterday was the second time that the Science Award of the State Commissioner for Data Protection was given out in a ceremony held at the Rhineland-Palatinate state parliament. The award, which was created in 2008, is given for excellent scientific theses related to data protection that were written at universities in Rhineland-Palatinate, and is intended to promote scientific exploration of data protection issues.

CeBIT 2010: Intelligent Energy Management at Home
In order to be able to save energy, consumers must be able to inform themselves at any time about how much energy their appliances and devices are using. At CeBIT, Fraunhofer scientists from Kaiserslautern will show an application in hall 9, booth B36 that can be used to manage energy consumption.

“Software Innovations for the Digital Enterprise“ was the title that brought success to numerous partners from the Kaiserslautern region during the second round of this year’s “Spitzencluster“ competition held by the German Federal Ministry of Education and Research (BMBF).
Spokesperson Prof. Rombach, the “Spitzencluster” partners from the region, and Minister Ahnen, Ministry of Education, Science, Youth and Culture (MBWJK), are using this occasion to invite you to a press conference to be held at the Fraunhofer Center in Kaiserslautern on 02 February 2010 starting at 1 p.m.
Europe’s Largest Software Cluster: over 80 Million Euros for Research
Kaiserslautern, 26 January 2010 — On Tuesday, German Federal Research Minister Annette Schavan announced the winners of the second round of the “Spitzencluster” (cluster of excellence) competition. The five winners will be funded by the German Ministry of Education and Research (BMBF) with a total of up to 200 million euros over five years. The winners of the competition also include Europe’s largest software cluster “Software Innovations for the Digital Enterprise”.
Tightening the Network: Kaiserslautern Innovation Center for Applied System Modeling Founded
“Science meets Engineering” this has been the motto for the new Kaiserslautern Innovation Center since January 2010. In order to strengthen the existing cooperation, the two Fraunhofer Institutes for Experimental Software Engineering IESE and for Industrial Mathematics ITWM as well as the departments of computer science and mathematics of the University of Kaiserslautern are moving together even closer than before.

The Fraunhofer Institute for Experimental Software Engineering IESE in Kaiserslautern has expanded its business areas at the beginning of the new year. The area “Automation and Plant Engineering” was created as the fifth business area. The new business area is headed by Dr. Daniel Görlich.
