Our Philosophy in Measurement and Prediction

Comprehensive Service Provider
We offer a comprehensive set of services ranging from characterizing quality aspects of products, processes, and projects (descriptive models), understanding the basic relationships between them (analysis models), evaluating adherence to plan values (comparative models), and estimating quality aspects (predictive models) all the way to proactively improving them (prescriptive models). This enables you to incrementally evolve your measurement capabilities with just one service provider that guides you through the whole process. The popular QIP (Quality Improvement Paradigm) defines a measurement-based improvement cycle that allows for incremental evidence-based improvement.
All methods offered explicitly consider your organization’s goals and context as central drivers for creating tailor-made solutions. Our popular GQM (Goal Question Metric) approach is a quasi-standard for setting up goal-oriented measurement programs focusing on a company’s information needs instead of collecting unnecessary data and generating a bloated system. The goal-oriented quality modeling approach is based upon international standards (such as ISO/IEC 9126, 14598, 15939, or 25000) and allows developing tailor-made well-proven measurement models for products, processes, and projects. The Defect Flow Modeling approach supports you in systematically improving the effectiveness of your QA activities through measurement and focusing on the defects that are most relevant for you.
We explicitly follow a hybrid approach for building measurement systems and prediction models; integrating human experts from the organization as key holders of qualitative knowledge as well as experience and available quantitative data in order to create more profound models. The proven CoBRA cost estimation and HyDEEP defect prediction approaches capture the knowledge of experts in reusable models. This allows reliable estimates to be created even though only limited data is available in your organization.
We focus on integrating measurement and prediction deeply into your organizational goals and strategies. This is seen as a key factor for sustainably establishing measurement programs that address business needs and contribute to your organizational success. The GQM+Strategies® approach supports you in linking your organizational goals and strategies through measurement.
